The light of the sun each day
Breath in and out each moment
Functioning of our bodies
till illness or death intervene
Vision to see the way
Hearing to absorb danger messages
and the gifts from wise lips
The rolling of rivers and oceans . . .
         and on it goes—
A list of chaos and
uncertainty can be made as well.
So what’s the choice?
Einstein’s God is real and
believed in by him—
a deist’s God who put in
motion unfathomable beauty
and order of which our
understanding is the palest
reflection of reality.
Still, 15 billion years
after creation—
however it happened—
we showed up.
We’re here.
Permanence is proof
of adaptability—for now.
The trace of history
is upward.
We have enough certainty.
